Factory Droid - Hostlinku Docs

Droid — Factory’s coding agent — supports BYOK custom models. Custom models are read from ~/.factory/settings.json and are available in the Droid CLI and the Factory desktop app (but not on the Factory web or mobile platforms). API keys remain local and are not sent to the Factory server.

What You Need to Know

GPT and other models (DeepSeek, GLM, Qwen, Kimi) are most compatible via generic-chat-completion-api. The openai provider on Droid uses the Responses API; Hostlinku serves Responses in a stateless manner (details), so choose Chat Completions if in doubt.
maxOutputTokens should not exceed the model’s output limit as specified in the catalog.
Prompt caching for generic providers depends on the target model.

Troubleshooting

Symptoms	Solutions
The model does not appear in `/model`	Invalid JSON or a typo in `provider` — check with `jq . ~/.factory/settings.json`.
Variable not found	`HOSTLINKU_API_KEY` has not been exported in the shell running `droid`.
`404` on all requests	Incorrect base URLs: `anthropic` without `/v1`, `generic-chat-completion-api` with `/v1`.
`404 model_not_found`	`model` must be the exact slug from `GET /v1/models`.
