Junie CLI — JetBrains’ terminal-based coding agent — supports custom model profiles in the form of JSON files. A single profile contains endpoints, API formats, API keys, as well as the main model and a faster model for light tasks. For the AI Assistant in JetBrains IDEs, see JetBrains AI Assistant.

Variant: Anthropic format

For the Claude model with the Messages API (full prompt caching), create a second profile, e.g., ~/.junie/models/hostlinku-claude.json:
Then run junie --model custom:hostlinku-claude.

What You Need to Know

  • ${HOSTLINKU_API_KEY} is read from the environment when the profile is loaded. If the variable has not yet been When set, the profile fails to load and Junie reports the missing variable name—it’s safe to commit the profile to the repo (.junie/models/).
  • Main model vs. faster model. Choose a model with robust tool calling for the main model (claude-sonnet-4-6, gpt-5-5); more affordable models like claude-haiku-4-5 or deepseek-v4-flash are sufficient for faster tasks (summarization and classification).
  • Responses API (OpenAIResponses) is also available at https://api.hostlinku.com/v1/responses, but it is stateless (details). OpenAICompletion is the safest option.
